Description
This course is designed to provide the participant with an overview of End-Tidal CO2 (ETCO2). This course is comprised of two parts: Part 1 is a 30 minute interactive eLearning module and Part 2 will present the participant with a journal article focused on how to read and interpret end-tidal capnography waveforms. Part 1 and 2 will challenge the participants knowledge thru an assessment.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of Part 1 of this accredited activity, participants should be able to: Define end-tidal carbon dioxide, or end-tidal CO2, and identify the principal determinants; Explain the normal physiology of carbon dioxide; Recognize the two types of equipment used to monitor end-tidal CO2 and discuss the pros and cons of each; Explain the differences between end-tidal CO2 and saturation of peripheral oxygen, or SPO2 monitoring; And explain the benefits of end-tidal CO2 monitoring for both patients and clinicians.
